Interview Highlights
Providing the Awoyaya Health Centre (AHC) with a 16.5 kW Solar Power energy system will save the limited clinic funding. The money saved by AHC will allow them to be more sustainable, provide more health care for the community.
Below is an interview by Ms. Temilade Hassan, Project Coordinator with The Future of Our Kids, with Dr. Folarin Taiwo, Lead Consultant at Awoyaya Health Centre, where a project is to commence.
Interviewer: How long have you worked at this Clinic?
Dr. Folarin: I have worked at this Clinic for three years, providing general medical services; Minor Surgeries, Delivery, Health Management, and Training.
Interviewer: How many staff does the Clinic have?
Dr. Folarin: We have15 staff members who see over 50 patients on ordinary days and over 100 on clinic days.
Interviewer: How reliable is the Power Supply?

Dr. Folarin: The power supply isn't reliable; it is off most of the time, at least 90 percent. It is more stressful for the patient and the health caregiver when there's no power supply.
Interviewer: What steps does the Clinic take to resume power?
Dr. Folarin: The hospital has a generator, which is usually fueled by patients.
